Club Founding

This has been a great semester for the
Rotaract Club of IUPUI.

After our initial founding in September, our club has gained several valuable officers and members, established a bank account, participated in several community service activities, obtained a recurring grant from the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, and networked with other student and community organizations.

We offer many thanks to those individuals who have helped make this club a reality!!

Special thanks goes to Susie Harmless, Bobbi Bosch, Meredith Miles, Lisa Swiontek, and John Yoder for their dedication to the creation of this club.

Light the Night Walk

In October, Rotaractors joined volunteers from Circle K to help blow up balloons at Victory Field for the Light the Night Walk. Over $380,000 was raised through this large, community event.

Club Promotion

Through a detailed search of university resources, we learned that IUPUI provides several methods for advertising clubs and events. Here are some photos of a short video Evangeline Antonopoulos created for the Informatics Building.

Indiana Ice Hockey

Thanks to a special donation by the Old National Bank, we were able to promote Rotaract on campus by providing free tickets to see Indiana Ice play in the Pepsi Colliseum. These games were very fun and were also a valuable recruitment tool.

Campus Day

Through our participation in the campus activities fair, we have connected with the Environmental Awareness League. We see several opportunities to team with this organization in the future, from cleaning local neighborhoods to renovating local parks.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF

This activity was both fun and rewarding. Rotaract volunteers dressed up in Halloween costumes and trick-or-treated for donations for UNICEF. We visited two communities on the north-west side of town and even trick-or-treated Governor Mitch Daniels. In only a few hours, we collected $170 and a large bag of candy - Watch Video

Rotary Luncheons

Through our close connection with the
Rotary Club of Indianapolis, several members were able to attend Rotary luncheons. Speakers this semester have included the CEO of Steak 'n Shake, Justice Frank Sullivan of the Indiana Supreme Court, the President and CEO of United Way, Senator Richard Lugar, and many other influential personages.

Peyback Thanksgiving

Just before Thanksgiving, we joined the Peyback Foundation for their Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway. Partnering with Marsh Supermarkets, volunteers stuffed and distributed more than 600 bags of groceries, which included ham, mashed potatoes, muffin and stuffing mix, fruit, vegetables and much more.

In Good Company

We are very excited about the future the Rotaract Club of IUPUI. Not only has Rotary and the university provided the tools we need to succeed, but IUPUI students seem eager to participate in philanthropic activities.

In fact, IUPUI was recently selected as a
Presidential Award winner for exceptional accomplishments in General Student Community Service activities. Only 5 universities nation-wide received this distinction, out of 510 applicants. Last year, 2,818 students did 53,648 hours of community service for 296 agencies.

We are proud to join IUPUI in continuing this charitable legacy.
